Examples: Commands, Functions, Routines, and Procedures

The hints and hacks presented here are a series of clear and understandable simple commands, functions, routines, and various logical ideas. Some examples are simply one-line commands and some are scripted functions and routines. It is not my intention to simply repeat what is already in the man pages--that's too easy (not to mention it would mean writing this book in a technical format). I will also include a reason the hint or hack should be used and break the example down so you better understand how each example works. This will develop your ability to apply the same or similar examples into an everyday situation.
