"Direct Democracy (Dir-Dem)"
This is an Electronic Opinion Polling System that refers to the ideal of direct
democracy. The network supporting this idea is formed by the municipalities
of Argostoli (Greece), Saint Brieuc (France) and Strovolos (Cyprus). The
code name of the network is "Pericles". It is funded by the MED-URBS
European programme.
"5APF0, Multimedia in Education and Culture"
This is the 216 STRIDE project (1991-93). The group was in charge of the
design and implementation of the pilot phase. This pilot is a fully
implemented Multimedia Byzantine History course, aiming to establish a
new standard for multimedia history tutoring.
"OMl Dissemination Project (OMl/DlS)"
This is an OMl/Esprit project aimed to define and implement a strategy for
the diffusion of the OMI technology into the market. A significant amount of
information will Šow through Multimedia presentation packages and
Multimedia Tutors. The group was in charge of the creation of the first
Multimedia presentation.
"OMl-NewsPAD"
This is an OMl/Esprit application project in the multimedia consumer market
area, aiming to set the foundations and initiate the developments for the
design and implementation of multimedia information dissemination
services. The project will cover all aspects of treatment of this information:
data collection, data preparation, distribution to consumers and consumption
of the final product.
"PENED" No. 91ED30
This project deals with the development and the implementation of
morphological, syntactic and semantic analysis techniques in order to
produce a framework for a natural language interface to large databases. The
appropriateness of the selected techniques will be demonstrated with the
implementation of a language facility for interactive database intensive
applications.
"DI DOS"
This is a RACE II strategic project for the publishing and manufacturing
industry focusing on the application domain of technical documentation. Its
main objective is the realisation, demonstration, test and evaluation of new
such applications following the distributed service centre concept on
advanced information processing, publishing and communication methods.
"COST 237"
The COST platform provides a mechanism for basic research collaboration
throughout Europe. COST 237, in particular, deals with Multimedia
Communication Services. A first step is the specification of these
communication related service requirements followed by the assessment of
the suitable networks, service elements and quality of service. Finally the
enhancement of the service specification of existing standard reference
models.
