Predictive Control is one of the basic techniques of the modern Advanced Process Control, being increasingly
applied in the field of  the process industry. The control strategy of the method is based on the explicit use of a model to predict the process outputs over a long-range horizon. A sequence of future control actions must be calculated so that a cost function to be minimized.

Evolutionary Computation is a generic term for a class of stochastic search techniques, which use computational models of evolutionary processes in their structure. The main Evolutionary Algorithms are Genetic Algorithms (GAs), Evolution Programs and Evolutionary Strategies.

The objective of my research is the use of evolutionary algorithms (especially GAs & hybrid GAs) in the solution of the optimization problem of Predictive Control, (using conventional and unconventional cost functions) and in the design (on-line and off-line) of the Predictive Controllers.
