Children
between eleven and fifteen years old, form the Boy Scout Troop. A Boy Scout
Troop consists of two to five companions - named patrols - and each patrol operates
with 6 to 8 Boy Scouts.
The First Boy Scout Troop of Pyrgos is the
first Scout section ever to operate in Pyrgos. Its history began at 1931. After
a short break in operation, due to the dictatorship of Metaxas at 1939 and afterwards
due to the occupation of Greece by the Germans, during the 2nd World War, it
was re-established shortly after the liberation, and until today it operates
without any interrupt.
The troop's Boy Scouts have always taken
part to the summer camps, organized by the Local Scout District of Pyrgos. In
1995 the troop was the first troop to hold its own, 12 day, summer camp at Skafidia,
with the participation of nineteen Boy Scouts and 8 rankers and explorers as
the camp's stuff. Members of the troop participate in local jamboree's and almost
every major Greek activity.
Today there are two patrols operating under
the flag of our Troop. The patrol of the Wolves
(Lyki), which is the oldest functioning patrol
and the patrols of the Squirrels
(Skiouri) that were established the March of 1994.
