Broadband ATM Networks

Integrated Services Broadband Networks and associated technology constitute one of the major research activities of the NTUA Telecommunications Laboratory. Study items include both theoretical and implementation aspects. System architecture, protocol design and evaluation .

Congestion control, traffic enforcement and bandwidth allocation methods. ATM access networks and methods for concentration of ATM traffic. Design of ATM switching systems and evaluation of their performance. Object oriented signalling and control protocols for supporting multimedia services in ATM-based networks. Cooperation with intelligent, satellite and mobile networks. Design and integration of terminal adapters for interconnecting PCs, Ethernet and frame relay networks with ATM based B-ISDN. Testing devices for assessing the performance of prototype ATM switch configurations and Local Exchanges.
