Software Development Laboratory


SoftLab has a multi-platform UNIX LAN consisting of 8 Sun Sparcstations, one HP Snake, one SGI Indy and several ASCII terminals.

The laboratory provides network access to five other LAN's through a router (kerberos.ntua.gr) and a repeater. Among the LAN's that get network access through SoftLab are the Central Computer System (*.central.ntua.gr) of the university, the Signal Proccessing Lab and the High Performance Computer Lab (*.hpc.ntua.gr).

Connection with the outer world is achivied through a connection to the main router (charon.ntua.gr) of the campus which leads the 64 Kbits leased line and also through a 19.2 Kbits leased line which is attached on one of the SoftLab machines (theseas.ntua.gr). Both lines lead to FORTH at Krete.

SoftLab also provides a dialup service through 5 dialup lines. These lines are can be used either from SoftLab users or users from other LAN's in the campus.
