Electronics laboratory
Still/moving image coding applications, digital tv and multimedia
The Group is currently participating in the Eureka 625 (VADlS) project for
the development of digital television at bitrates up to 10 Mbit/sec (1991-94).
The Group is participating in the STRIDE 216 project 5APF0, for
developing Multimedia in Education and Culture (1991-93) and in the Esprit
Special Action project MINOS (1993-95) for developing Multimedia in
tourism. Specific areas of research in this category are progressive and
hierarchical image coding, scalable coding and bit-rate reduction for digital
and high definition television, standardization of video coding for
transmission, storage and multimedia applications, use of agents in man-
machine interfaces and fast algorithms for seismic applications.
